We have all eventually culminated in GW2, but what did you do before this?
I can safely say I'm gamer and have a series of game addictions. in this order i was fully into:
Age of Empires/ other offline games. Runescape. WoW (world of warcraft). COD MW2 (call of duty). COD BO. LOL (league of legends). COD MW3. More LOL. BF3. COD BO2. Even more LOL. And now GW2.
Over a total of 15 years i have played these main game's
so what is your gaming background? what has attracted you to GW2? have you always been a MMORPG person or (like me) have you flipped from Strategy to FPS to MMO?

Umm, a lot of strategy games lol Anno 2070 for the past year or so, Age of Empires 2 & 3 (I sucked at both), lots of elder scrolls, pokemon (mostly gen 2 stuff), and a decent amount of shooters.
I no longer play any shooters at all, since the community usually sucked (ie: I had a KD ratio of 26 in halo). I am willing to try competitive TF2 this summer, since I need a real FPS challenge.
Anno 2070 is prob my favorite strategy game of all time, sine its the only one when I am actually in the top 100 leader boards (My username in that game is Matrix)

80 thru early 90s: Atari, Nintendo, SNE, N64, Sega, PS 95-2000: PS2/XBOX, online text-based strategy games (based on ticks) 2001-2005: Play quite a bit of playerworld games (e.g: Eternal Flame) 2006-2012: XBOX/XBOX360 online (Halo series, MW series, CoD Series) 2012-present: GW2 -> my first non-2D PC game. This is due to finally having somewhat decent hardware.

Overall: Nintendo > Sega Genesis/Sega CD/Turbografx 16/SNES > Playstation > PS2 > PC > GW2. Fact is, I started on RPGs back when Final Fantasy I came out, got heavy into that/Dragon Warrior, then Phantasy Star. It continued from there. If it's a console RPG, I've generally heard of it (or owned it). I'm also an old hand at tabletop RPGs. If anything, my MMO history is miniscule by comparison: Forsaken World, Rusty Hearts, a bit of Pandora Saga, DDO, then GW2. I blame the Quaggans for not playing Witcher/Dragon Age/Skyrim in bloody months ... foooOOOOooooo.

GW2 is the first MMO I’m playing tbh. I tried a bit of WoW at my friend’s but the amount of time and money he invested just sounded a little overwhelming. Early days: Atari 80s-early90s: PC/AT – California Games, Space Quest, King’s Quest, just about anything found in the abandonware archives Pentium: Doom, Quake, C&C, AoE Late 90s: Pentium100 – Even more Quake, Flight Sims PSOne: Gran Turismo Post 2000: P2, PIII: Sacred, Sacred Underworld (many, many, many hours logged) PS3: Uncharted, AC, Sacred2 (even many, many more hours logged) Recent: LoL – I really miss this game, but I just can’t commit to matches as much as I’d like to. So I’d play and get in trouble at home or get in trouble with the guys online. Stopped the toss up when GW2 was launched
