first the situation: we have sm upgrading, wp under construction all nearby towers have been recently wiped of upgrades all of our towers have lots of supply and upgrades approximately equal forces fielded by each server (15-20 men each cuz its NA am down time) we are able to find time to cap n run, but the outer enemy towers are being backcapped more or less asap idea: as you (commander) sweep thru a tower... before leaving, build 2 arrow carts and designate 2 people to sit behind. when et/hod come knocking, you already have a first round defense set up to stop their rams and throw them into disarray. have those 2 people call out to you for backup, and make sure they know to talk to each other about what siege is up. this will be easier to pull off once the sm wp is complete. if youre able to defend the tower, push to the camp, cuz itll be the wrong color. empty it and repair tower damage. then head to the next call. if you arent able to defend the tower, leave it. deal with any other calls. once those are managed, attempt retake (so the enemy forces have hopefully left). put 1 of the carts in the courtyard so it definitely cant be killed by easy means. put the other on an inner wall ledge so it can see the surrounding area and toss out supporting fire for when you come. sounds kinda simple, probably gonna be super hard to pull off

Very nice idea, this will slow them down alot and give us an idea of where they are instead of guessing.
The problem I have is that I dislike assigning people, and nobody ever volunteers, ever.
How do you guys feel about assigning people, I personally don't mind sitting there but if i'm commanding I can't and it seems most people dislike running camps/mercs while watching towers. It seems unfair because the same people volunteer all the time could we perhaps invent a reward for people that do it?

Well, as unfortunate as it is I think it's basically up to the commander to get his guildies on board to defend. Maybe work in shifts so guys can swap out. If each guy has a buddy they can figure it out between themselves.
Random people you don't know so well aren't always reliable and wont check in if they are gonna drop out. I just invite to party whoever I've asked to sit somewhere, or has volunteered, so I know if they go AWHOL.

Cycle your scouts every 15 minutes. It means you need more scouts but their boredom is relieved at a regular interval. Just don't forget.

so... last night, we 10 golem rushed sm, like ya do when you plan a 5 golem rush and someone goes a little crazy, and hit this same situation. this time, nugget and archilese more or less stuck to this idea (a great example of taking suggestions )... and it worked beautifully. it really helped that et took notice of what we were doing... and they decided they didnt want to fight us and painted hod bl red. we had token resistance from both corners, just enough to delay us in taking upgraded towers and keep us out of the keeps, but neither of them could mount any kind of attack because they were fighting each other. we saw the rise and fall of many, many trebs... as opposed to quick ram jobs. nothing about the resistance was fast, which allowed us to fully upgrade golanta and rogues for a good amount of time... and keep 5 supply lines into sm. ive never seen such a quick upgrade schedule in sm. we were able to queue everything as each up was completed. a couple hours ago, our non-vampires started logging in to the sight of a wp in sm and a small point lead on hod instead of trailing by 5k and a green wp. as a tower guard (i was in klovan a lot of the time), i was pretty much always doing something. either running around upgrading the camps, taking sentries, building acs, capping mercs, escorting yaks, killing trebs. it isnt the glory of seeing your xp bar fill up after standing in front of a gate for 3 minutes autoing... but theres always something that needs doing. and a shift change is very, very nice.when you guard a tower, just stay in the vicinity. we dont need all our guards to stay in the tower itself, thats boring as fuck. be within 30 secs of walking to the gate and leave someone inside. rotate whos inside. what matters is that we have someone with instant access to an arrow cart, and another person or 2 dedicated to being there quickly. until this fridays patch, if you have 1 cart constantly shooting a ram thats constantly ramming a paper gate from full, the gate will be around 80% by the time the ram dies. (2 carts mean the print dies before being built) carts are fucking scary right now, and it showed very clearly last night with how easy it was to hold so much territory with only 15~20 v 5~10 v 5. things started getting rough when a lot of our people left for the night, et got out of hod bl, and hod recapped their stuff. but sm is hopefully easily defensible! keep it up and well beat hod! our aussie time zone crew really is the largest in the match, and i think we need to be taking advantage of it like this!

Rikkity, what you described as far as guarding the tower (running yaks and what not to the tower and such) was exactly what I did all of yesterday (while I was on) and for the day we didn't lose Quentin from the time it got upgraded to the time I finally logged off.
I was informed that I was waisting my time repairing the wall with supplies I had ran from Dan as i was running yaks, but when The HoD zerg showed up they didn't have an easy cap, instead there was a fortified wall up with 25% of its HP still there and rather than try and set up cats to finish it off they ran off. Looking for an easy cap. A thanks to all the guys who helped out with that btw special thanks to Cleming and the ele's (especially) who were largely responsible for wiping the 20 HoD that tried to take Quentin early in the day.
Anyways it certainly did work. Sure it got slow at times but for the most part there was stuff to do. Running Yaks is a huge advantage for us defenders when theres full or near full supply in an upgraded tower/keep.

THIS. It needs to be spread throughout the server. Everytime I'm on and playing. It's Cosmic and Rascorian sitting in our bl AAAALL night long. Occasionally Garrison gets attacked by HOD and whoever is leading in EB may or may not give a fuck and show up or not. But this has to change. We get bored as hell having to be the ones to do this and everyone relying on them to do so. Well don't let me speak for them but I hear the frustration and I spent about 4 hours a night in there as well.
