I want to do what [VK] does. I want to run in a relatively small, but organized unit that when people see the tag, they think twice about rushing it. We're getting better, as a large group, in understanding some of the concepts. I'm all about taking those concepts and refining them into deadly, nerd fucking accuracy.
I've never played on any other server than Ferguson Crossing (not including a 1-week stint I spent over in SF to get my world complete right before free transfers ended. Hey, fuck you guys. We were still competing with them at that point). But I can only imagine that even though they have guilds like the aforementioned [VK] (or [RET], as it were) that bring these larger meta theories into play, there still must be a fair share of PUGers. People who don't get it or don't want to get it. Is it a situation where the WvWvW guilds just do their own thing without the PUGs, or do you guys end up doing a lot of the shit you're doing in Ferguson right now ie leading around a lot of toons with different tags and just making it work? Simply curious.
Anyhow, there's moments in life where you can almost feel the veil being lifted (no mesmer pun intended). Sometimes it's the realization the kid you've been raising isn't yours and that hooker of a wife got banged by the UPS guy. Sometimes it's in videogames. It's one of those things where I can say that I've long been savvy to blastfields and how they work: I've been dropping them with some precision for awhile on my toons, generally with more focus in dungeon situation than W3. Stacks of might here, a healing blast there, etc etc. I don't know so many of us didn't latch onto the idea of dropping them on tightly-formed zerg balls in W3. Perhaps because I don't actively seek out the videos. The tutorials. A guy finds a niche sometimes and doesn't realize that just around the corner is something cooler. It's definitely something worth being more proactive on, I see that now.
Anyhow, I didn't intend for this to go on this long, but I wanted to say one last thing. It's been pretty fucking fascinating watching the change over the past... what? 72 hours? 96? When we first started rolling out with [VK] there were only a handful of blue dots in TS and we couldn't even get people to stack proper let alone drop proper fields. Now it barely even needs to be said and the channel is full of people. Not as many as we'd like, of course, but it's making strides. Pretty cool watching the evolution come to pass, especially at the expense of those SF nerds. Fuckin' tits. Until the catch on and start doing it back to us, anyhow. If and when those guys figure it out and really get coordinated, we may very well wish we let them out of T8. I suppose we'll see.

Well. It appears we took a good time to take a break from T2. Apparently it's 100+ Zerg of PINK just rolling around farming RET. they lost garrison in FABL nearly right off the bat. Though if we were there. Garrison would have stood. Sounded like AZ spent most of the night running from PINK instead of finding ways to fight them

If and when those guys figure it out and really get coordinated, we may very well wish we let them out of T8. I suppose we'll see. One of the things that really appeals to me about GW2 as opposed to other mmos is, at the end instead of a 40-man raid vs a predictable dragon (even one that requires perfect coordination and zero f-ups), here you can engage in a 40 man raid against another 40 man raid. Many of which definitely require coordination and zero f-ups. That's how I think of it, at least. Taking wvw as seriously as any other mmo endgame, bearing in mind questions like "what's my role in this raid" and not dismissing these activities as "mindless zerging" are the keys to handling what seems to be FC's biggest problem atm; managing the massive numbers SF fields. There will always be pugs or 'militia', there will always be people who refuse to get on teamspeak or join a wvw guild for their own reasons, and there will always be people who troll commanders just to be contrary. It's inevitable. Some militia will be amazing, some will disappoint. It helps to have a little faith that they're coming along because they genuinely want to help and be a part of the server's success; often times we can drop siege at a tower and run off to something more important, knowing someone there who wants the karma/xp will take care of it while we defend somewhere else. At least it's usually better to be patient and hopeful with strangers than fall into a "stupid pugs can't do anything right" mentality, because that always becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.

We don't run in small units lol. 20+
If we can field 50 in a single ball we will do it. 50 being a small group in T2
Having said that we have separate groups within the main group that break off and attack in different ways.

When I say 'relatively small' I don't mean ten. I mean relative to a T1. I figured it was easily over twenty. Easily over thirty. Thanks for the response.
